CBD E Liquid Calculator: How to Easily Determine Your Ideal Dosage?

The world of CBD has been expanding rapidly. One of the many popular ways of consuming this cannabinoid is e-liquids. They provide a convenient and efficient method for friends of the compound that are already vaping (with or without nicotine) or smoking to enjoy its potential benefits [1]. As the market and offer of vape juices continues to grow in the UK and EU it becomes more and more important to read the labels and navigate the different concentrations on offer.

One thing that comes in handy is a CBD e-liquid calculator or table. This essential tool helps users to determine the correct amount of CBD they need based on factors like their desired dosage, e-liquid volume and CBD concentration.

Key Takeaways

  • With more and more liquids on offer it becomes increasingly important to navigate the different concentrations on offer
  • CBD e-liquid calculators or tables help to determine your dosage

CBD E-Liquid Calculator Basics

We all know it's important to find the right dosage for your needs. Using a CBD e-liquid calculator or table can help you find out how much of your liquid you need to use to reach a certain mg dose of CBD. If you're new to vaping and want to try a mild dose you might want to go for 10mg of CBD or less. More experienced vapers may prefer a stronger dose such as 60mg of CBD.

To get started let's assume you want to fill your tank, pod or cartridge with 1 ml of Harmony vape liquid (if you have a 2ml tank this would be half a tank full). A bottle contains 10ml, so 10 such doses. Simply check the indications below to see how many mg of CBD are contained per 1 ml of liquid (1 dose):

  • 30mg (very mild) = 3 mg/ml
  • 100mg (mild) = 10 mg/ml
  • 300mg (strong) = 30 mg/ml
  • 600mg (very strong) = 60 mg/ml

Keep in mind that finding the perfect dosage is a personal process and depends on factors like your metabolism and individual tolerance towards cannabinoids. Every person will react differently to CBD [2]. So pay close attention to your body and keep track of the effects until you figure it out. Trial and error is key to success!

CBD Vape Calculator: Finding the Right Dosage

To begin select a dose you want to start with. A common starting point that people generally recommend is 10 mg of CBD per day. Next, consider how much liquid you are planning to vape in one day to make sure your CBD dosage of 10ml will be met. You can use the information below as a guide:

  • 30 mg (very mild) = 10 mg equals around 3 ml
  • 100 mg (mild) = 10 mg equals 1 ml
  • 300 mg (strong) = 10 mg equals around 0.3 ml

With this information you can determine the amount and strength of CBD e-liquid you'll need to consume per day. Listen to your body and adjust your dosage accordingly. If you want to move to a higher intake - simply use more of your liquid in one day or move to a higher concentration while keeping the amount of liquid the same. Repeat this process until you find what works best for you.

Understanding CBD E-Liquid Concentrations

CBD (or cannabidiol) is extracted from the hemp plant and (contrary to THC) is non-psychoactive [3]. CBD e-liquids can be used in any standard vape device as long as they are PG/VG based - much like traditional nicotine-based e-liquids.

When selecting a CBD e-liquid you'll first notice that commonly the CBD concentration is listed in milligrams (mg). Usually indicating the total amount of CBD in the 10 ml bottle. The more CBD mg in the e-liquid, the stronger the effects. Here is a handy table for Harmony juices showing the concentration in different ways:

  • 30 mg (very mild) = 0.28% = 3 mg/ml
  • 100 mg (mild) = 0.94% = 10 mg/ml
  • 300 mg (strong) = 2.8% = 30 mg/ml
  • 600 mg (very strong) = 5.6% = 60 mg/ml

The percentages appear slightly lower than you might expect. This is because the blend of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) is denser than water, so one milliliter of this particular blend weighs more than 1g - ultimately influencing the numerical percentage. This is another reason why it is easier to dose eliquids by their volume in 1ml steps.

DIY CBD E-Liquid Mixing and Calculator

Creating your own CBD e-liquid can be a more cost-effective and infinitely customisable way to enjoy the benefits of CBD. A reliable e-liquid calculator or mixing table can make the process easier and more accurate.

To start, you'll need the following ingredients:

  • CBD Isolate or CBD in propylene glycol (PG) - like the Harmony Pure Base
  • propylene glycol (PG)
  • vegetable glycerine (VG)
  • a flavouring, if desired.

The ratio of PG to VG determines the thickness of the e-liquid and the intensity of the throat hit. A higher VG ratio creates a smoother vape with thicker clouds while a higher PG ratio provides a stronger hit and better flavour delivery. Due to the poor solubility of CBD in VG we don't recommend exceeding a ratio of 3 parts VG to 7 parts PG. Flavourings are usually highly concentrated but this can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Always check the label and follow the dosing guidelines to the drop.

It's crucial to carefully measure and calculate the desired CBD concentration. Knowing how much CBD to add will help you achieve the desired potency. Let's assume you want 500mg of CBD in your 10ml bottle - or 50mg per 1ml dose. This level can be achieved by either dissolving 500mg of CBD isolate in your PG/VG blend - or using 5ml of our 1000mg Pure Base in combination with PG, VG and your flavouring of choice. You might need to shake vigorously or apply a little bit of heat to dissolve the CBD efficiently. Be careful with the latter to not damage the CBD or burn your hands in the process.

Here is an orientation for using Harmony products in your DIY vape projects:

  • for 100 mg in 10 ml use 100 mg Isolate or 1 ml Pure Base
  • for 250 mg in 10 ml use 250 mg Isolate or 2.5 ml Pure Base
  • for 500 mg in 10 ml use 500 mg Isolate or 5 ml Pure Base

Remember: DIY e-liquid mixing involves handling chemicals! You should use proper safety equipment like gloves and goggles. Always store your finished e-liquids and ingredients away from children and pets.

Creating your own CBD e-liquid can be a rewarding experience as long as you take the time to plan, measure, and mix your ingredients carefully. With quality ingredients like those from Harmony you'll be able to create the perfect CBD-infused vape experience.
