Mental health includes everyday wellbeing and conditions that may need assessment and treatment. Stress, anxiety, low mood and trauma-related symptoms can overlap, but they are not interchangeable. This guide helps you find the right starting point and understand where botanical research fits.
Start with the question you want answered
For practical ways to handle everyday pressures, start with How to Manage Stress. That guide covers manageable changes, breathing and finding support. It is a focused part of this wider topic, rather than an explanation of every mental health condition.
The NHS mental health service separates information about feelings and symptoms from information about diagnosed conditions and treatments. That distinction is useful when reading health content: recognising a symptom is not the same as identifying its cause.
Stress, anxiety and botanical research
Our current articles focus mainly on CBD research. The stress overview and anxiety overview introduce different research questions. A result about temporary stress in healthy volunteers cannot establish a treatment for an anxiety disorder.
When comparing studies, look for the participants, preparation, comparison group and follow-up period. Self-reported changes, clinical symptom scores and biological markers measure different things. A positive finding in one measure should not hide a null result in another, and a review is only as informative as the studies it includes.
Related concerns need their own explanation
The articles below also cover trauma-related research and emotional eating. Their main focus is psychological symptoms or behaviour. Dementia, epilepsy and neurological conditions have a separate home in Brain and neurological health.
Sleep can be part of the picture without becoming the same topic. Our sleep guide covers routines and persistent sleep difficulties. Follow that connection when it answers your question; you do not need to read every related article.
Finding support
If symptoms persist, worsen or affect your daily life, speak to a healthcare professional. The NHS offers routes to talking therapies, treatment information and urgent help. Botanical or CBD research should not be used to replace that support or to change a prescribed medicine without speaking to the prescriber.
We explain research as a CBD business, and the studies discussed are not demonstrations that Harmony products treat a mental health condition.
